Crystal Clear

He's a damned one
I watch him cross the street
Hands buried deep in his pockets
Shoelaces dragging him down
A hood shields his face
He pauses for a moment at the sidewalk
A cigarette to light his way
Spits into the incoming traffic
And steps out.............
As tires squeal in shock and glass shatters
It begins to rain
Almost as if to wash away this day
I follow him with my eyes
So calm as he walks
Head down ducking into an alleyway
Leaving cursing drivers behind
I know he's laughing
But I feel him crying
Praying, hoping his luck runs out
Rain stops some time later
And like the blossoms it brings
He's out. Stops in the middle, this is something new
He reaches up, removing his hood
I catch a smirk and cars rush by
Unaware he holds his arms out
Like a crucifix
He stares straight at me
All time seemed to stop after that
The big bang and screeching tires
The top of his head blown away with the side of his face
A woman screams
His body falls, He hits the tarmac
I stand from my table
And I walk into the traffic
One unfinished coffee..... Abandoned..... Unpaid for
